What this tool calculates

This tool solves the standard decimal-odds profit equation for stake. It assumes a full win with the original stake returned and excludes commission, tax, deductions, voids, and partial settlements.

Required stake = target net profit ÷ (decimal odds − 1). Total return = required stake × decimal odds.

Results use the assumptions shown on this page. Actual settlement may differ under operator, jurisdiction, or market-specific rules.

Worked example

For a $150 target net profit at decimal odds of 2.50, the required stake is $100. A full win returns $250 in total: $100 stake plus $150 profit.

FAQ

How do I calculate stake from a target profit?

Divide the desired net profit by decimal odds minus one.

Is the original stake included in target profit?

No. Target profit is net winnings; total return adds the original stake.

Why does the required stake rise near odds of 1.00?

The profit per unit staked becomes very small as decimal odds approach 1.00.

Does the result include betting commission or tax?

No. Deduct those separately or increase the target only after checking the applicable operator rules.

How should I round the stake?

The page shows cents, but use the bookmaker’s permitted stake increment and expect a small change in achieved profit.
