Formula and calculation

Measure how far a bankroll has fallen from its peak and how much growth is required to return to that peak.

Drawdown % = (peak − current) ÷ peak × 100. Recovery % = (peak − current) ÷ current × 100.

Calculations are informational. Actual grading, limits, deductions and payouts follow the operator’s rules.

Worked example

A bankroll falling from a 1,200 peak to 900 has a 25% drawdown. It then needs a 33.33% gain on 900 to recover to 1,200.

Assumptions and limits

FAQ

Why is recovery greater than drawdown?

Recovery is measured from the smaller current balance, while drawdown is measured from the larger peak.

What should I use as the peak?

Use the highest bankroll value reached during the period you want to analyze.

Can current bankroll be zero?

Yes. Drawdown is 100%, but a percentage recovery from zero is not mathematically finite.

Does a deposit count as performance?

A deposit changes bankroll but is not betting profit; track cash flows separately for performance analysis.

Does this calculate maximum historical drawdown?

No. It measures one entered peak-to-current decline rather than scanning a time series.
