Use this student GPA calculator to estimate a credit-weighted GPA from course grade points and credits. It helps students check academic standing, scholarship readiness, and GPA improvement needs.
The result is a credit-weighted GPA estimate. Courses with more credits affect GPA more strongly than low-credit courses, so improving high-credit classes usually creates the biggest GPA gain.
This version uses a two-course model to keep the input panel simple. It can be expanded to more courses inside the same template.
A 3-credit course at 3.7 and a 4-credit course at 3.3 produces a GPA of about 3.47. The higher-credit course has more influence on the result.
Multiply each course grade point by its credit value, add the results, then divide by total credits.
Many scholarships use cutoffs such as 3.0, 3.5, or 3.8, but each program can set its own requirement.
Yes, a low grade in a high-credit course can reduce GPA more than a low-credit elective.
Improve performance in courses with the highest credits and avoid missing major assessments.
A strong GPA depends on the institution and program, but higher credit-weighted consistency is usually viewed favorably.
