Supported formats and limits

Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari generally decode JPEG, PNG, and WebP. This page caps canvas work at 40 megapixels and 16,384 pixels per side. Animated images are treated as a single decoded frame.

Tips for better results

  • Keep the original file until you have checked the download at full size.
  • Use PNG when transparency or sharp interface graphics matter.
