What this audio tool does

Inspect channel count, per-channel peak and RMS levels, balance, correlation, and sample rate.

Each channel is scanned independently for peak, RMS, DC offset, and silence. Stereo files also receive a normalized left/right correlation and balance calculation.

Compressed formats must first be decodable by your browser. Correlation is reported only for the first two channels.

Supported formats and limits

Audio decoding follows the formats supported by your browser. WAV export uses 16-bit PCM. No file is uploaded.

Example and practical tips

For example, use Audio Channel Inspector on a short copy first, listen or inspect the result, and only then process a long recording.

  • Close other audio-heavy tabs for smoother processing.
  • Keep an untouched copy of the source.
  • Compressed formats must first be decodable by your browser. Correlation is reported only for the first two channels.

Frequently asked questions

Does the audio channel inspector upload my audio?

No. Audio processing and analysis happen in your browser, so the selected file is not sent to a server.

Which browsers work with this Audio Channel Inspector?

A current browser with Web Audio API support works best. Input codec support still depends on the browser.

Can I preview the result before downloading?

Yes. When the tool creates audio, the original and result players let you compare them before saving.

Why is the exported file a WAV?

PCM WAV is widely supported and can be encoded reliably in the browser without an external server or codec.

Will this tool reduce audio quality?

Compressed formats must first be decodable by your browser. Correlation is reported only for the first two channels.
