How to use AAC to MP3 Converter

  1. Upload an AAC or M4A file the browser can decode.
  2. Choose an MP3 bitrate and run the compatibility-checked conversion.
  3. Preview and download the MP3 if your browser provides an MP3 encoder.

What this audio tool does

The converter checks MediaRecorder.isTypeSupported for audio/mpeg before it starts. It never renames AAC data or returns the source as a fake MP3.

Decoded PCM is routed to a MediaStream and captured by the browser's native MP3 MediaRecorder encoder when one exists.

Most browsers do not currently expose MP3 recording. If yours does not, the tool stops with a clear message instead of producing an invalid file.

Supported formats and limits

Input support follows the codecs available to your browser. WAV is used for generated PCM output, while recording tools use a supported WebM codec. Large or long files require more memory and processing time.

Example and practical tips

This is useful on managed browsers that include a native MP3 MediaRecorder implementation.

  • Chrome and Firefox commonly lack MP3 recording support.
  • Use a dedicated FFmpeg-based converter when this compatibility check fails.
