How to use Voice Recorder with Pause

  1. Choose a microphone and start recording.
  2. Use Pause and Resume without ending the take.
  3. Stop, preview, and download the combined WebM recording.

What this audio tool does

The recorder uses MediaRecorder.pause and resume, so paused intervals are excluded from the saved media timeline.

Encoded chunks from one MediaRecorder session are combined into a single WebM Blob after Stop.

Pause and resume support depends on MediaRecorder. Microphone access requires HTTPS and permission.

Supported formats and limits

Input support follows the codecs available to your browser. WAV is used for generated PCM output, while recording tools use a supported WebM codec. Large or long files require more memory and processing time.

Example and practical tips

Pause while checking notes during a voice-over, then resume without creating separate files.

  • Pause before moving the microphone or turning pages.
  • Wait for the status to say Recording before speaking.
