How to use this calculator
- Enter the first-wave reach of the post.
- Add the percentage of viewers who share it.
- Estimate additional reach created by each share.
- Choose how many sharing waves to simulate.
Estimate how far a post could spread through shares and re-shares. Calculate total viral reach, amplification, viral coefficient, new followers, and whether the content has breakout potential.
A viral coefficient above 1 means each wave can create more reach than the previous wave. Below 1, the post may still perform well but is unlikely to compound aggressively.
Share quality matters. A high number of low-intent shares may not produce meaningful followers or conversions.
With 10,000 initial reach, a 4% share rate, 25 reach per share, and 3 stages, the viral coefficient is 1.0 and total reach is about 40,000.
Use initial reach, share rate, reach per share, and sharing stages. The calculator compounds each sharing wave.
A viral coefficient above 1 is strong because each wave can generate an equal or larger next wave of reach.
It depends on reach per share. The calculator converts share rate and average reach per share into total viral spread.
Multiply shares by average reach per share, then include re-share stages if the content continues spreading.
A share rate becomes viral when it produces a viral coefficient near or above 1 after multiplying by reach per share.
