How to use this calculator

- Add monthly new members.
- Add monthly members who leave or become inactive.
- Enter active members who post, react, attend, or participate.
Measure community growth quality from new members, churn, and active participation. Estimate net growth, active member rate, target timing, retention risk, and community health score.
Community quality depends on both growth and activity. A large group with low active rate may be less valuable than a smaller community with strong retention and participation.
Define active membership consistently. For some communities, reading may count; for others, posting or attending may be required.
With 5,000 members, 600 new members, 150 churned members, and 1,800 active members, net growth is 450, active rate is 36%, and churn rate is 3%.
A good rate depends on stage, but steady net growth with low churn and rising active rate is healthier than raw member growth alone.
Divide active members by total members and multiply by 100. The calculator also compares it with churn and net growth.
Community churn varies by niche and pricing. Rising churn is a warning sign even if new signups are strong.
Use current members, monthly new members, and churned members. The calculator estimates target timing from net growth.
Improve onboarding, create member rituals, highlight wins, and give people reasons to participate repeatedly.
