What the result means

The result shows raw points and percentage performance, making it easier to compare exams with different question counts or point values.

Exam score = correct answers × points per question + bonus points − penalty points. Percentage = score ÷ maximum score × 100.

If your exam has unequal question values, use average points per question as an estimate.

Example calculation

42 correct answers out of 50 at 2 points each plus 3 bonus points gives 87 points out of 100, or 87%.

Tips for better results

  • Calculate both percentage and wrong answers to understand accuracy.
  • Check whether bonus or penalty points change the final grade boundary.
  • For weighted sections, calculate each section separately when possible.

FAQ

How is my exam score calculated from correct answers?

Multiply correct answers by points per question, add bonus points, subtract penalties, then compare with the maximum score.

What percentage is a passing exam score?

Many courses use 60% or 70%, but the passing percentage depends on your school or teacher.

How many questions can I miss and still get an A?

This depends on total questions, points per question, and the A threshold. Use percentage output to compare with your grade scale.

How is exam ranking estimated from score?

Ranking requires class distribution data. This calculator estimates score and status, not official rank.

What is a good exam percentage?

A score above 85% is usually strong, while below 70% often needs improvement depending on the course.
