How to use this image tool

  1. Select a supported image.
  2. Set the available options and review their limits.
  3. Choose Convert AVIF to JPG, inspect the result, then download the newly created file.

What this tool does

The converter asks the browser to decode AVIF pixels, composites transparency over a selected background, and exports a new JPEG Blob.

AVIF decode → canvas raster → JPEG encode

AVIF decoding support varies by browser and operating system. An unsupported file produces an error rather than a fake conversion.

Supported formats

Input must be AVIF. Output is JPEG. Animated AVIF, unusual bit depths, color profiles, or codecs may not decode in every browser.

Tips for better results

  • Use a current Chromium, Firefox, or Safari release.
  • Choose a light background for images with transparency.
  • Keep a higher quality value for gradients and fine texture.

FAQ

Why will my AVIF file not open?

Your browser may lack support for that AVIF codec, bit depth, profile, or animation variant.

Does AVIF to JPG preserve transparency?

No. JPEG has no alpha channel, so transparency is composited onto the chosen background.

Will converting AVIF to JPG increase file size?

It can. AVIF is often more efficient than JPEG at similar visual quality.

Does the converter keep EXIF metadata?

Canvas-based JPEG export generally does not carry the original metadata into the result.

Can it convert animated AVIF files?

The browser may decode only a still frame; animated AVIF conversion is not promised.
