How to use this image tool

What this tool does

The tool compares pixels against the top-left corner color, finds the bounding box of pixels outside the tolerance, then crops to that box.

Bounds = outermost pixels whose RGBA distance exceeds tolerance

This works best for flat borders. If the subject touches the top-left corner, choose a lower tolerance or crop manually.

PNG, JPEG, and WebP are supported when decoded by the browser. Output is PNG to preserve transparency.

How does automatic border trimming choose the border color?

It samples the top-left pixel and treats nearby colors as border according to the tolerance.

Can it remove a textured or shadowed border?

Only if the texture stays within the tolerance; complex frames are better cropped manually.

Will transparent padding be removed?

Yes, when the top-left sample is transparent and visible content differs from it.

Why was part of my image trimmed?

The subject may resemble the sampled border near an edge, or the tolerance may be too high.

What format is the trimmed image?

The result is PNG so transparent edges remain transparent.
