What this tool does

Add padding around an image with exact canvas dimensions, anchor placement, and a solid or transparent background, processed locally in your browser.

Decoded pixels → selected settings → newly encoded result Blob

Processing happens locally. Browser decoding, memory, color management, and encoder support still determine the practical limits.

Supported formats

The file picker accepts common web image formats that browsers can decode. Animated GIF input is treated as a single decoded frame.

FormatSupport
JPEG / PNGBroad browser support
WebP / GIFBrowser-dependent decoding; first frame only
HEIC / TIFF / RAWNot supported by this browser-only implementation

Tips for better results

  • Keep a copy of the original before exporting.
  • Use moderate pixel dimensions on mobile devices.
  • Inspect the full-size download, not only the scaled preview.

FAQ

Does expand image canvas upload my image?

No. The selected files are decoded and processed locally by your browser. Closing the page releases the temporary preview URLs.

Which image formats work with this expand image canvas?

It accepts browser-decodable PNG, JPEG, WebP, and GIF files. Support for less common variants depends on the browser.

Will this tool preserve image metadata?

No guarantee is made. Canvas-based exports normally omit EXIF and other source metadata; the orientation viewer reads a limited JPEG tag and exports a text report.

Why can a large image fail to process?

Decoded pixels use much more memory than the compressed file. The tool stops inputs or outputs above its 40-megapixel safety limit.

Can I use the downloaded result for professional printing?

Check pixel dimensions, color expectations, and printer scaling first. Browser canvas does not provide press-grade ICC color management.
