How to use this office tool

What this tool does

This tool counts nonempty data rows in each sheet, excluding the configured header rows, and creates a workbook-level comparison report.

A row counts as populated when at least one cell contains a value. Differences are measured against the first reported sheet.

Hidden rows and filtered-out rows are included because browser parsing reads stored worksheet data rather than Excel’s current view.

Tips for better results

  • Use the same header-row setting for comparable files.
  • Remove explanatory rows above the table or adjust the header number.
  • Compare sheet names as well as totals when workbooks differ.

Can I compare row counts in more than two Excel files?

Yes. Select multiple files and the report lists every readable sheet in each file.

Do blank rows count toward the total?

No. A data row is counted only when at least one cell contains a value.

Are hidden Excel rows included?

Yes. Hidden and filtered rows are stored in the workbook and are included in the count.

Can I compare CSV and Excel files together?

Yes. CSV and TSV inputs are treated as one-sheet files and can be compared with Excel workbooks.

What is the baseline difference column?

It shows each sheet’s populated-row count minus the count of the first sheet in the report.
