How to use this office tool

  1. Select exactly two files; the first is the source and the second is the comparison.
  2. Choose the key column shared by both tables.
  3. Process the pair and review rows missing from file two.
  4. Download the missing rows as CSV.

What this tool does

Keys from the second file are matched against the first file. Rows whose normalized key is absent are exported.

missing = keys in file 1 − keys in file 2

The exported file is newly generated in your browser. The uploaded source remains unchanged.

Supported formats

XLSX, XLS, CSV, and TSV are accepted. Browser rewriting does not guarantee preservation of macros, charts, pivots, external links, or every advanced Excel feature.

FormatUse

CSV / TSVDelimited table input

Tips for better results

  • Use a stable unique key rather than a name.
  • Trimmed text comparison is case-sensitive.
  • Check duplicate keys separately if they matter.

FAQ

Which file is treated as the source?

The first selected file supplies rows to test; the second supplies the comparison keys.

How are blank keys handled?

Rows with blank keys are included in the report as unresolved rather than matched automatically.

What spreadsheet formats can Find Rows Missing from Second File read?

It accepts XLSX, XLS, CSV, and TSV files. Advanced workbook objects may not be preserved when a new workbook is written.

Are uploaded files sent to a server?

No. Parsing and output generation run locally in the browser; the page does not upload cell data.

How should I protect IDs and leading zeros?

Keep identifier columns formatted as text and enable text protection when available. Always check the preview before exporting.
