What this tool does
Values such as “$1,250.00” or “€ 49.95” become numeric cells when they match a conservative currency pattern. Unrelated text is left unchanged.

Supported formats
XLSX, XLS, CSV, and TSV are accepted where the operation supports them. Browser memory, parser support, and Excel worksheet limits apply.

Which currency symbols can the cleaner remove?
It recognizes common symbols including dollar, euro, pound, yen, won, rupee, ruble, and several currency abbreviations.
Will ordinary text containing a dollar sign be changed?
Only values that match a conservative currency-number pattern are converted; unrelated text is retained.
Are negative accounting amounts supported?
Yes. Parentheses around a currency amount are interpreted as a negative value.
What happens to formulas that display currency?
Formula cells remain formulas when Preserve formulas is enabled; the tool does not rewrite their display format.
Can it distinguish decimal commas automatically?
Not reliably in every locale. Ambiguous comma and period conventions need manual review.
