How to use this office tool

  1. Choose an equipment inventory file and select its worksheet.
  2. Build the checkout sheet and inspect the mapped assets.
  3. Download the workbook and complete borrower and due-date fields in Excel.

What this tool does

The maker maps recognizable inventory fields, adds editable checkout columns, and builds a second instructions sheet for a simple office lending workflow.

Equipment inventory → mapped asset fields + checkout columns → new XLSX tracker

The downloaded workbook is a starting template. Confirm asset IDs, owners, due dates, and local recordkeeping requirements before use.

Supported formats

Files are processed locally. XLSX and XLS workbooks are read with SheetJS; CSV and TSV files are parsed with delimiter-aware handling. Advanced Excel features may not be preserved in generated files.

Tips for better results

  • Work from a backup when the source workbook is important.
  • Keep identifiers such as ZIP codes and account codes stored as text.
  • Review the bounded preview and downloaded result before replacing any business workflow.

FAQ

Can I start with only equipment names and IDs?

Yes. Recognizable fields are mapped and the remaining checkout columns stay blank for later entry.

How is overdue status calculated?

The tracker compares the due date with today and shows OVERDUE only when the item is not marked returned.

Does the tool assign equipment automatically?

No. Borrower, checkout date, due date, condition, and approval fields are intentionally editable.

Can asset tags keep leading zeros?

Yes, when they are stored as text in the source; the tracker also treats mapped identifiers conservatively.

Will the original inventory file be changed?

No. The browser creates a separate checkout workbook for download.
