How to use this office tool

  1. Choose an Excel workbook with one or more worksheets.
  2. Create the index and review sheet counts and visibility.
  3. Download the new workbook and test its internal links in Excel.

What this tool does

The organizer creates a new workbook containing an Index sheet followed by copies of the source sheets. Each index row links to cell A1 of its worksheet.

Workbook sheet metadata → linked index rows → new indexed XLSX workbook

Basic values and formulas are copied, but advanced Excel objects and some formatting may not be preserved by the browser export.

Supported formats

Files are processed locally. XLSX and XLS workbooks are read with SheetJS; CSV and TSV files are parsed with delimiter-aware handling. Advanced Excel features may not be preserved in generated files.

Tips for better results

  • Work from a backup when the source workbook is important.
  • Keep identifiers such as ZIP codes and account codes stored as text.
  • Review the bounded preview and downloaded result before replacing any business workflow.

FAQ

Are the worksheet names clickable?

Yes. Each visible index entry contains an internal hyperlink to cell A1 of that worksheet.

Will hidden sheets appear in the index?

Yes. Their hidden or very hidden state is recorded in the Visibility column.

Where is the index sheet placed?

The generated workbook places Index first and appends copied source worksheets after it.

Does this edit the original workbook?

No. A newly generated XLSX workbook is downloaded.

Are charts and advanced formatting preserved?

Not reliably. The tool focuses on sheet values, formulas, metadata, and internal navigation.
