Spreadsheet Conversion

Moving data between Excel, CSV, JSON, HTML, XML, and similar formats sounds simple until formatting, dates, formulas, leading zeros, or text encoding get involved. A conversion that looks correct at first glance can still change how values are interpreted when the file is opened in another program. These tools are most useful when you need a clean handoff between systems, a lighter interchange format, or a copy of the same data that another application can actually read.

Before converting an important workbook, check which parts of the original file matter. CSV can carry tabular values but not workbook formatting, formulas, multiple sheets, comments, or charts. JSON and XML preserve structure differently and may need clear headers before export. For finance, inventory, customer, and reporting files, it is worth opening the converted result and checking a few rows with dates, IDs, decimals, and non-English text before you use it downstream.

• Check whether formulas need to stay as formulas or be exported as displayed values.
• Inspect ID columns for dropped leading zeros after conversion.
• Verify date and decimal formats when files move between regional settings.
• For large files, test a small sample first so you know how the target format behaves.
