Hydroponic Nutrient Yield Forecast Calculator

Forecast hydroponic marketable yield from plant count, expected yield per plant, nutrient-program response, and crop loss. The calculator shows gross output, saleable output, and the modeled difference from an unchanged nutrient program.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter measured values for your current crop or system.
  2. Keep every input in the unit shown beside the field.
  3. Select Calculate to update the estimate.
  4. Compare the main result and supporting figures before changing operations.

Formula

Marketable yield = Plants × Baseline kg/plant × (1 + Program response) × (1 − Loss rate)

What the result means

The main result is expected marketable crop weight after both the nutrient-response assumption and crop loss are applied.

Avoid attributing yield changes solely to nutrition when light, temperature, plant density, cultivar, or harvest timing also changed.

Example calculation

2,000 plants × 0.45 kg × 1.07 × 0.96 = 924.48 kg marketable yield, 60.48 kg above the unchanged-program baseline.

Tips for better results

  • Use completed-cycle yield per plant.
  • Run a zero-response control scenario.
  • Keep loss definitions consistent.
  • Separate quality changes from weight changes.

Frequently asked questions

Can the nutrient response be negative?

Yes. Enter a negative percentage above -100% to model a poorer result.

Does the calculator predict nutrient toxicity?

No. It only applies the response assumption you enter.

Should plant count include transplants that died?

Use the number expected to reach harvest; otherwise loss may be counted twice.

Is gross yield the same as marketable yield?

No. Gross yield is shown before the entered unmarketable loss rate.

How should I choose the response percentage?

Use comparable trial data, crop records, or a clearly labeled scenario range.
