Logistics and manufacturing performance depends on flow: how fast materials move, how often equipment runs, how much inventory is held, how long orders wait, and how much capacity is actually available. Small delays can compound across a production or delivery network.
Use operational data from the same site and period. Nominal machine capacity is different from effective capacity after downtime, changeovers, quality losses, maintenance, and staffing constraints. For inventory and transport calculations, lead time and demand variability matter just as much as the average.
A calculator can help find bottlenecks and compare scenarios, but it should sit alongside actual process data. If a result suggests a large efficiency gain, check whether the assumed throughput can be supported by upstream supply, downstream handling, labor, storage, and quality requirements.
