Formula

Element needed (g) = (Target ppm − Source ppm) × Volume (L) ÷ 1,000
Product mass = Element needed ÷ Product nutrient fraction

What the result means

The main result is fertilizer product mass, not pure elemental mass. The analysis percentage converts between the two.

Check whether the label reports elemental nutrient or an oxide equivalent. Confirm compatibility, solubility, EC, and pH before dosing a live system.

Example calculation

For 2,000 L, raising concentration from 20 to 150 ppm requires 260 g of element. At 15% analysis, product needed is 1,733.3 g.

For dilute water solutions, ppm is conventionally approximated as milligrams per liter.

This addition-only calculator cannot remove nutrient; reduce source concentration or blend water first.

Does the calculator account for fertilizer purity?
