Biomass gain = Ending biomass − Starting biomass
Feed conversion ratio (FCR) = Feed supplied ÷ Biomass gain

What the result means

The main result shows kilograms of feed supplied for each kilogram of measured fish biomass gain.

Adjust biomass records for fish removed, added, or lost during the cycle. Comparisons are meaningful only with consistent inventory methods and feed accounting.

Example calculation

Biomass rises from 300 to 720 kg, a 420 kg gain. With 520 kg feed, FCR is 1.24; at $1.35/kg feed, feed cost is $1.67 per kg gain.

Does uneaten feed count?

Yes. FCR uses feed supplied, so waste worsens the ratio.
