Formula

FCR = (feed consumed − removal adjustment) ÷ (ending weight − starting weight)

Feed efficiency is the reciprocal: weight gain divided by adjusted feed.

What the result means

A lower FCR means less recorded feed was used per unit of live-weight gain, but comparisons are meaningful only when weighing method, period, feed basis, and group definition are consistent.

This calculator reports live-weight FCR. It does not convert to carcass or saleable-product FCR.

With 23,000 kg feed, 400 kg starting weight, and 10,000 kg ending weight, FCR is 2.396.
