Formula

Net nutrient need = max(target − credit, 0). Product rate = net need ÷ (analysis fraction × efficiency fraction).

Why does fertilizer analysis appear as a percentage?

The percentage is the share of product weight represented by the nutrient being calculated.

What happens when nutrient credit exceeds the crop target?

The net need is set to zero, so the calculator does not suggest a negative application rate.

Does this calculator handle blended fertilizer?

It can calculate one target nutrient using that nutrient’s percentage in the blend. Check other nutrients separately.

Why is application efficiency included?

Not all applied nutrient is necessarily available to the crop. Efficiency increases the product rate needed to deliver the net target.

Can I calculate kilograms per hectare?

Yes, the ratio works with consistent mass-per-area units, although the interface labels are pounds per acre.
