Gig Delivery Net Earnings Calculator

Convert delivery-app gross receipts into a more realistic planning net. Enter gross earnings, platform or payment deductions, miles driven, vehicle cost per mile, other shift expenses, tax reserve rate, hours worked, and completed deliveries. The result reports cash after expenses and reserve, effective hourly earnings, net per delivery, and the share of gross revenue consumed by costs and reserve.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the values from your current project or work period.
  2. Use realistic costs and time, including unpaid or nonbillable work.
  3. Select Calculate to update every result.
  4. Change one assumption at a time to compare scenarios.

Formula

Operating profit = gross earnings − platform deductions − mileage cost − other expenses. Planning net = operating profit × (1 − tax reserve rate).

What the result means

Use the main result as a planning threshold under the assumptions entered. Secondary results explain the time, rate, revenue, or cost components behind that threshold.

Estimates are for planning only. Contract terms, local tax rules, actual expenses, and working conditions may produce different results.

Example calculation

From $240 gross, 5% deductions cost $12, 90 miles at $0.35 cost $31.50, and other expenses cost $10. Profit is $186.50; after a 20% reserve, planning net is $149.20.

Tips for better results

  • Use recent records instead of ideal estimates.
  • Keep billable time separate from total time worked.
  • Include project-specific costs before evaluating the result.
  • Run a conservative scenario for uncertain workload or demand.
  • Recalculate whenever scope, deadlines, fees, or expenses change.

Frequently asked questions

How are vehicle costs calculated?

Miles driven are multiplied by vehicle cost per mile.

When is the tax reserve applied?

Platform deductions, mileage cost, and other expenses are removed before the reserve is calculated on profit.

Why must deliveries be a whole number?

Completed deliveries are countable items, so decimal delivery counts are invalid.

What does net per delivery mean?

Planning net earnings are divided by the whole number of completed deliveries.

What happens when costs exceed gross earnings?

The calculator blocks the result because it is designed for a nonnegative-profit estimate.
