Formula

Usable grams = container cups × grams per cup × (1 − headspace%)
Days of supply = usable grams ÷ daily grams

What the result means

The result estimates capacity by measured bulk density. Kibble shape and settling can change the actual fit, so leave headspace and verify with the physical container.

Do not pour new food over old food without cleaning the container as appropriate. Follow the manufacturer’s storage guidance and preserve label information.

A 50-cup container, food density of 110 g/cup, and 10% headspace provide 4.95 kg of usable capacity. At 240 g/day, that lasts about 20.6 days.
