Formula

Gross liters = L × W × H ÷ 1,000. Usable liters = L × W × (H − substrate) ÷ 1,000 × (1 − decor%) × fill%.

What the result means

Usable capacity is a planning volume after obvious space losses. Living space quality also depends on ventilation, furnishing, and species-specific floor area.

This geometric estimate is not a stocking recommendation. Confirm enclosure minimums with current husbandry guidance for the species.

Example calculation

A 90 × 45 × 60 cm enclosure with 10 cm substrate, 12% decor displacement, and a 90% fill factor has about 160.38 usable liters.
