Formula

Intensity = CSS pace ÷ session pace
Load = hours × intensity² × 100 × work-share fraction

What the result means

The load combines time and pace relative to your critical swim pace, then discounts rest using the entered work-interval share.

This session-level model is useful for consistency, but it cannot distinguish stroke type, drills, kick sets, or the exact structure of intervals.

A 3,000 m session in 55 minutes averages 110 seconds per 100 m. With 100-second CSS and an 80% work share, intensity is 0.91 and training load is about 60.6 points.
