Gross emissions = units produced × kg CO₂e per unit ÷ 1,000
Residual = Gross × (1 − reduction %)
Offsets required = Residual × coverage %

One metric ton of required offset coverage is commonly matched with one credit representing one metric ton CO₂e, subject to the program's rules and retirement requirements.
