Formula

Net capacity = available capacity × (1 − headroom); active users = floor(net capacity ÷ per-user demand); registered users = floor(active users ÷ activity factor).

What the result means

The registered-user estimate translates a simultaneous traffic limit into a population estimate. The active-user result is the firmer capacity figure because the activity factor is an operational assumption.

Use a busy-hour average for capacity planning, then retain headroom for short peaks. Using an isolated speed-test maximum will usually understate capacity.

Does this estimate include uplink capacity?

No. The result uses the entered downlink capacity. Run a separate calculation with uplink capacity and uplink demand when that direction is important.

Why is the user result rounded down?

A fraction of a user cannot be fully supported, so capacity is rounded down to the nearest whole user.

Can this replace a satellite internet radio plan?

No. It is a traffic-capacity estimate and does not model signal quality, spectrum reuse, interference, scheduling, or equipment limits.
