Formula

Base meters = service points × meters per point. Total fleet = ceiling(base meters × (1 + spare rate)). Crews = ceiling(base meters ÷ installations per crew per day ÷ workdays).

What the result means

The total fleet is procurement inventory, while the crew estimate covers planned installations only. Spare units are not added to installation workload unless they are actually deployed.

Crew productivity should include travel, access failures, commissioning, and realistic working conditions.

Example calculation

For 25,000 service points at one meter each with a 3% spare allowance, total fleet size is 25,750 meters. At 30 installations per crew-day over 120 days, at least 7 crews are needed.

  • Base crew productivity on completed and commissioned meters, not visits.
