What this tool does

Measure encoded PDF stream lengths, identify declared filters, rank the largest streams, and download a CSV stream-size inventory locally.

Raw byte positions between stream and endstream markers are measured. Sizes reflect encoded storage, not expanded memory use.

Malformed files or the word “stream” inside unusual binary data can affect byte-level estimates.

Tips for better results

  • Start optimization with the largest image-like streams.
  • Filter names help distinguish JPEG data from general compressed content.
  • Compare totals with file size; dictionaries and cross-reference data add overhead.

FAQ

Does pdf stream size analyzer upload my files?

No. Processing runs in this browser. The page does not send the selected file to a Callpdf server.

Can this tool process a password-protected PDF?

PDFs that require a password are not supported in this version. Remove protection with the correct password before using the tool.

What happens with a very large PDF?

Large documents may use substantial memory and can take longer. Close other heavy tabs and try a smaller file or fewer pages if the browser stops.

The report does not alter the PDF. Its measurements are a practical browser-based inspection and documented limitations still apply.
