What this tool does

Compress a PDF in the browser with structural optimization or optional image-based recompression. Compare the result before downloading.

The source is parsed locally, the requested page or optimization operation is applied, and a new PDF or ZIP Blob is created for download.

Complex forms, annotations, embedded files, signatures, and encrypted PDFs may not be preserved by browser-based rewriting.

Supported formats

Input must be a standard PDF that can be opened without a password. The output is PDF, except split operations which return a ZIP containing PDF files.

Tips for better results

  • Keep a backup of the source PDF before rewriting it.
  • Check small text and page orientation in the downloaded result.
  • For very large documents, close other tabs to free browser memory.

FAQ

How are page numbers entered in Compress PDF?

Use page numbers and inclusive ranges such as 1,3,5-8. Pages are counted from 1.

Does Compress PDF lower image quality?

No. Existing PDF pages are copied without rendering, so their page content is not intentionally recompressed.

Can this process a password-protected PDF?

Not when a password is required. Decrypt the PDF with authorization before using the tool.

What happens to links and form fields?

Basic page content is retained, but complex interactive structures may not survive copying between PDF documents.

Does the PDF leave my browser?

No. The selected files are processed locally after the required JavaScript libraries load.
