Estimate usable rail cargo capacity from the number of freight cars, nominal payload per car, and an operational availability factor. Compare that usable capacity with planned cargo weight to see train utilization, remaining tonnes, and the additional identical cars required when the plan is over capacity. This is an early load-planning tool; it does not validate axle loads, gross trailing load, train length, braking, siding, route, commodity, or regulatory restrictions.

The main result is planned cargo as a percentage of usable capacity after the operational factor is applied.
