Orders satisfying both conditions.

How to use this calculator

  1. Choose one reporting period and count total orders.
  2. Count orders meeting the date requirement and quantity requirement separately.
  3. Count orders satisfying both requirements.
  4. Calculate and compare OTIF with its two component rates.

Formula

Service level (OTIF) = Orders both on time and in full ÷ Total orders × 100

On-time and in-full rates are also calculated separately.

What the result means

This service level uses the on-time-in-full definition. It shows how reliably supplier orders meet both date and quantity requirements in the same reporting period.

Use one documented definition of “on time” and “in full” across periods. Separate counts cannot reveal the overlap, so OTIF must be entered directly.

Example calculation

For 100 orders, 94 on time, 96 in full, and 91 meeting both conditions, service level is 91.0%. Nine orders miss OTIF.

Tips for better results

  • Use values from the same reporting period.
  • Keep raw operating data before rounding displayed results.
  • Recalculate when staffing, routing, rates, or supplier terms change.
  • Investigate the largest contributor before changing the whole process.

Frequently asked questions

Why is supplier orders service level based on orders both on time and in full?

OTIF prevents an order that meets only the date or only the quantity requirement from being counted as fully successful.

Can OTIF orders be greater than on-time orders?

No. The both-condition count cannot exceed either the on-time count or the in-full count.

Should canceled orders be included in the total?

Use a documented policy. Exclude them only when the same exclusion is applied consistently to every period.

How should partial deliveries be counted?

Count them as in full only if they satisfy the quantity rule your organization defined before measurement.

Why can’t OTIF be calculated from only the on-time and in-full totals?

Those totals do not show how many individual orders belong to both groups, so the overlap must be known.
