Formula

Saleable milk = cows × liters per cow per day × days × (1 − loss rate)

The forecast separates gross production from the portion expected to remain saleable.

What the result means

Use the saleable forecast for tank capacity, pickup planning, and short-term revenue estimates. It is not a biological guarantee; actual milk output changes with ration, weather, health, and stage of lactation.

Compare the forecast with actual shipped volume using the same dates and units.

For 120 cows producing 31.5 L/day over 30 days with 2.5% loss: gross milk is 113,400 L and saleable milk is 110,565 L.
