How to use this calculator

  1. Choose one consistent workforce and measurement period.
  2. Enter the operational counts, rates, hours, and costs requested.
  3. Select Calculate to update the estimate and supporting results.
  4. Test alternative assumptions before using the result in a plan.

Formula

Conversion rate = completed cases ÷ eligible cases × 100; completions needed = ceiling(eligible × target rate) − completed

What the result means

The conversion rate summarizes workflow completion against a clearly defined outcome. It does not by itself measure employee health, case quality, or policy compliance.

Define “eligible” and “completed” before comparing periods. Changing either definition will break trend comparability.

Example calculation

With 160 eligible cases and 112 completed outcomes, conversion is 70%. Reaching an 80% target requires 16 more completed cases.

Tips for better results

  • Document the qualifying outcome before measurement.
  • Use closed cohorts when cases take a long time.
  • Separate pending cases from unsuccessful outcomes.
  • Compare teams only when definitions match.
  • Review case quality alongside the conversion rate.

Frequently asked questions

What should count as a successful conversion?

Use one operationally meaningful outcome, such as a completed return-to-work plan, and apply it consistently.

Can completed cases exceed eligible cases?

No. The calculator rejects that input because completions must come from the eligible case population.

How are target completions rounded?

The required total is rounded up so the target rate is actually reached, then current completions are subtracted.

Should open cases be included as eligible?

Include them only if your measurement design treats the cohort consistently; otherwise use cases old enough to have reached an outcome.

Does a high conversion rate mean cases were handled well?

Not necessarily. Timeliness, suitability, employee experience, and compliance should be reviewed separately.
