Estimate how many doses a liquid medication container provides and when the usable supply may run out. Enter bottle volume, prescribed volume per dose, daily frequency, and a reserve percentage for measurement loss or an early-refill buffer. The result can help plan refills, but it should not be used to extend treatment or change the prescribed dose.
Usable volume = bottle volume × (1 − reserve %). Complete usable doses = floor(usable volume ÷ dose volume). Supply days = usable doses ÷ doses per day.
Supply duration reflects only complete doses available below the chosen reserve. The reorder point subtracts a simple three-day lead-time buffer.
Actual extractable volume and refill rules vary. Never reduce a dose to make a bottle last longer; contact the veterinary clinic or pharmacy if supply is short.
A 100 mL bottle with 2.5 mL doses, twice daily, and a 5% reserve has 95 mL usable volume, 38 complete doses, and 19 days of usable supply.
