Running Training Load Performance Score Calculator

Combine recent race pace, weekly consistency, and current training balance into a transparent 0–100 running performance score. This is a personal tracking index—not a clinical metric—and is designed for comparing your own snapshots under the same assumptions.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter a representative recent run or race.
  2. Add current and planned weekly distance.
  3. Enter completed and planned sessions for the same week.
  4. Use the score only to compare your own repeated snapshots.

Formula

Score = 40 × pace index + 30 × volume completion + 30 × session consistency; each component is capped at 100%

What the result means

The score rewards faster pace and completing a planned schedule, but it does not measure readiness, health, terrain, or race conditions.

The pace index uses 6:00 min/km as a neutral reference and is capped. Treat the result as a dashboard index, not a universal ranking.

Example calculation

A 10 km run in 50 minutes is 5:00 min/km. With 40 of 45 planned km and 4 of 5 sessions, the score is 90.67.

Tips for better results

  • Compare efforts on similar terrain and conditions.
  • Do not chase the score while sick or injured.
  • Use planned volume that reflects your actual training phase.
  • Watch component changes instead of only the total.
  • Pair the score with recovery notes.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the performance score estimate as a guarantee?

No. It is a planning estimate based on the values you enter; actual outcomes can differ.

What happens if one of my inputs is zero?

Zero is accepted only where it has a practical meaning. The calculator flags values that would make the calculation invalid.

Should I use weekly or monthly data?

Use the period requested by each field and convert your records consistently before entering them.

How often should I update this calculation?

Recalculate whenever pricing, volume, performance, or operating assumptions change materially.

What is the most important limitation?

The weights and pace reference are a transparent personal index, not a validated physiological standard.
