Supply-chain footprint = Purchased goods + Inbound logistics + Supplier energy + Supply-chain waste + Other upstream sources
Source share = Source emissions ÷ Total emissions × 100

What the result means

The total is a roll-up of the entered upstream source groups. The largest-source and purchased-goods share results help prioritize data improvement and supplier action.

This calculator adds existing emissions estimates; it does not create emission factors or guarantee alignment with a particular Scope 3 inventory method.

Purchased goods of 12,500, logistics of 2,400, supplier energy of 1,800, waste of 350, and other sources of 950 tCO2e total 18,000 tCO2e. Purchased goods represent 69.44%.

Enter the emissions assigned to purchased products and services under your chosen inventory method, excluding amounts entered again in other fields.

Can supplier-specific product carbon footprints be mixed with spend-based estimates?

They can be combined for planning if boundaries and units are compatible, but document the method for each source and avoid overlap.

How do I prevent double counting inbound logistics?

Check whether supplier product footprints already include delivery to your gate. If they do, do not add the same transport emissions separately.

Does this calculator cover every Scope 3 category?

No. It provides a flexible subtotal for selected upstream sources. Include additional measured sources in Other or use a fuller category-by-category inventory.

Why is the largest source useful?

It identifies where better primary data, supplier engagement, specification changes, or procurement decisions may have the greatest effect.
