Formula

Current carbon cost = Total emissions × Covered share × Current carbon price. Future cost uses the same emissions and covered share at the future price.

What the result means

The current cost is a shadow or direct carbon-price exposure for the included supply-chain footprint. The future scenario shows price sensitivity while holding emissions constant.

This is not a tax calculation. Actual liability depends on jurisdiction, exemptions, allocation, contract terms, and the emissions boundary.

Example calculation

For 11,000 t CO₂e with 75% covered, priced at $45/t, the current carbon cost is $371,250. At $80/t, it would be $660,000.
