Formula

Demand bartenders = ceil(bar guests × peak orders/hour ÷ service rate)
Bartenders = max(demand bartenders, active stations)
Barbacks = ceil(bartenders ÷ bartenders per barback)
Total staff = bartenders + barbacks

What the result means

The main result is total bar headcount. Bartenders must satisfy both peak-order throughput and minimum station coverage.

Venue rules, cash handling, specialty cocktails, glassware, satellite bars, security, and local alcohol-service requirements may require additional roles.

Example calculation

For 180 guests with 80% using the bar and 1.3 peak orders per hour, demand is 187.2 orders/hour. At 55 orders per bartender, four bartenders are needed. With one barback per three bartenders, add two barbacks for 6 total staff.
