Project monthly fiber traffic from average throughput, daily active hours, traffic direction, and billing-cycle length. The calculator converts sustained rates into terabytes, separates download and upload volume, and estimates the 95th-percentile billing quantity from a user-entered ratio.
This uses decimal terabytes (1 TB = 1,000,000 MB).
The main result is total bidirectional transferred data under a simplified equivalent-hours model. The direction split helps size storage or transit reporting, while the percentile estimate is only as reliable as its entered ratio.
Real networks vary minute by minute. For billing or capacity commitments, use provider measurement intervals and actual percentile samples rather than this projection.
At 500 Mbps for 12 equivalent active hours per day over 30 days, projected traffic is 81.00 TB. With an 80% download share, that is 64.80 TB down and 16.20 TB up; a 2.5× ratio estimates 1,250 Mbps at the 95th percentile.
They represent the number of hours at the entered average throughput that produce the same daily data volume as the real variable traffic pattern.
Yes. One terabyte is treated as 1,000,000 megabytes, which is common in network transfer reporting.
Total volume includes both directions. The download-share input allocates that total between download and upload without changing the combined volume.
