Making batch image work safer

Batch tools are useful when dozens or hundreds of images need the same treatment, but small setup mistakes can multiply just as quickly. Renaming rules, output folders, file extensions, and numbering patterns are worth checking on a handful of files before the full batch is processed.

A good batch workflow keeps the source set untouched and writes results to a separate folder. This makes it easier to compare before and after files, spot missing images, and rerun the job with different settings without losing the originals.

Practical tips

• Test any batch rule on three to five files before processing the whole folder.
• Write outputs to a new directory instead of overwriting source images.
• Use predictable naming patterns that sort correctly when filenames contain numbers.
• Check whether duplicate names will be skipped, replaced, or renamed automatically.
• After a large batch, compare the file count and total output size with the source set.
