Formula

Base minutes = loading + (distance ÷ average speed × 60) + stops + unloading
Total minutes = base minutes × (1 + delay % ÷ 100)

What the result means

The main result is the elapsed time from loading start through unloading completion. Driving time isolates the moving portion, while handling and delay show where schedule buffers are being used.

This is a planning estimate. Traffic, hours-of-service rules, appointment queues, weather, and route restrictions can change actual transit time.

Example calculation

With 45 minutes loading, 320 miles at 50 mph, 30 minutes of stops, 40 minutes unloading, and a 12% delay allowance, base time is 499 minutes. The allowance adds 59.88 minutes, for 558.88 minutes, or 9.31 hours.
