The calculation compares occupied pallet positions with usable positions and loaded weight with the equipment’s payload limit. The lower remaining margin identifies the binding constraint, so a load that looks spacious may still be weight-limited—and a light load may still run out of floor positions.
Effective utilization uses the more heavily consumed resource. A result over 100% means at least one declared capacity is exceeded.
Usable positions should already reflect pallet dimensions, stacking rules, axle distribution, segregation, and any blocked space.
