Formula

Operating seconds = scheduled hours × 3,600 − downtime minutes × 60
Gross units = operating seconds ÷ cycle seconds
Good throughput = gross units × yield ÷ 100

What the result means

Good throughput is the estimated number of first-pass acceptable units produced during the scheduled period. Gross units show line output before quality losses.

This is a planning estimate. Changeovers, starvation, blocking, micro-stops, and product mix can alter actual output.

Example calculation

For 8 scheduled hours, 45 minutes of downtime, a 30-second cycle, and 97% yield: operating time is 7.25 hours; gross output is 870 units; good throughput is 843.9 units.
