Net ft³ = length × (width ÷ 12) × (depth ÷ 12) × runs
Order yd³ = (net ft³ ÷ 27) × (1 + waste %)

What the result means

The result is the volume of identical rectangular footing runs plus your selected allowance.

Calculate stepped sections, enlarged pads, piers, and differing cross-sections separately, then combine the volumes.

Example calculation

Two 120 ft runs, each 24 in wide and 12 in deep, contain 480 ft³ or 17.78 yd³. Adding 5% produces an order estimate of 18.67 yd³.
