What the result means
The order total includes both the selected waste percentage and any extra sheets needed to reach a complete bundle. Additional face area translates the final surplus into square feet.
A waste percentage should reflect the layout, sheet size, handling, and project conditions; this tool does not set a required allowance.
Example calculation
For 116 net sheets with 10% waste, the raw requirement is 127.6 sheets. With two-sheet bundles, order 128 sheets. Percentage allowance is 11.6 sheets, bundle rounding adds 0.4 sheet, and twelve extra 4 × 8 sheets represent 384 sq ft.

Why is the waste allowance a decimal number of sheets?
The percentage is calculated precisely before the final order is rounded to purchasable whole bundles.
Does rounding to a bundle increase waste?
It increases purchased surplus, but usable unopened sheets should be tracked separately from discarded material.
Can I enter zero percent waste?
Yes. The result will only round the net sheets to the selected purchase bundle.
Should different drywall sizes use different allowances?
They can, because sheet dimensions affect layout and offcuts; choose the rate based on the actual plan.
Does extra board area equal usable installed area?
It is nominal sheet face area. Cuts, damage, seams, and layout may prevent all of it from becoming usable coverage.
